An estimated 10 million viewers tuned in to the debut episode of ITVs 14th series of I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here on Sunday night. It was the most watched show of the night and if it continues to attract these numbers it’s well on course to become one of the top rated shows of the year.
The producers have added a new twist to the show and this meant that half the contestants were immediately sent into a jungle ‘prison’, whilst the other half enjoyed the relative comfort of ‘Croc Creek’.
Broadcaster, Michael Buerk is probably the most famous celeb and he found himself in camp with rapper Tinchy Stryder, ex footballer Jimmy Bullard who is favourite to win at 8/13 ON with Paddy Power Bookmakers, presenter Melanie Sykes and American model Kendra Wilkinson.
Finding themselves in the prison camp were Corrie actor Craig Charles, Gemma Collins from Towie, Nadia Forde, speed biker Carl Fogarty and Vicki Michelle. It all proved too much for Gemma as she refused to take the helicopter ride, preferring to walk to the camp before proceeding to have a major breakdown. Despite the others efforts to cheer her up and being rescued by the other celebs she quit the show after three days.
After a shaky start to a challenge, Tinchy Stryder at odds of 50/1 to win the show, went on to win four stars which could have fed the contestants. However, he wasted them by using them to rescue the whining, ungrateful Gemma who left shortly after.
Since then, Craig Charles has left to return to the UK after his brother died suddenly and both Edwina Curry and Jake Quickenden have been added to the line-up, with Jake under going the first Live Trial of the series, bagging an impressive ten stars to feed his campmates while solidifying himself as a favourite to win the series at odds of 5/1.
Ex Tory MP Edwina Curry has already been stirring the pot and managed to find herself at the receiving end of Kendra's wrath as they butted heads during a rather pointless philosophical debate which didn't do either of them any favours.
But it's Ant & Dec who have once again stolen the show and with their witty banter, sly remarks and generally hilarious demeanour it's easy to see why we are tuning in to I'm A Celebrity our millions every night.
