If you have any interest in horse racing you'll know that today Celestial Halo, the Paul Nicholls horse being ridden by Ruby Walsh was odds on favourite with the bookies to take the Boylesports International Hurdle at Cheltenham today.
The best odds for him at the beginning of the race were a ridiculous 4/7 on as the bookies tried to stem the tide of punters who all thought they'd make a killing from a sure thing today, in fact 80% of all bets were on Celestial Halo!
Nobody told Paddy Brennan on Khyber Kim though and he came to upset the party. Having already won earlier in the day, Brennan made the comment that he was really looking forward to riding Khyber Kim who he considered to be an underestimated horse so he clearly knew that he was in with a chance despite the bookies putting him at 12/1.
The race went off without a hitch and for the most part Celestial Halo was in a comfortable lead and looked at ease as Walsh took him around the course. In fact, it didn't look like there was much to threathen him until two out when Khyber Kim came up alongside him making Ruby push very hard over the last hurdle forcing him into a jumping error when he over reached, opening the door for Khyber Kim who found fuel in the tank to run away with the last few yards, giving Paddy Brennan his third win of the day.
