Kicker - Casino Term Definition

In poker - Texas Hold'em, the kicker is the card used to distinguish between two players who both hold the same winning hand - e.g. if the players hold AK and AJ and both have paired their aces then the King (as it is the highest second card) is used as the 'kicker' to determine the winner of the pot.
