Personally I would rather be slapped round the face with a wet Haddock than sit through more of the inane wittering of Z-list celebs in this recent edition of the I’m A Celebrity series! But there is something to be said about the warm feeling I get when watching this desperate bunch of fame seekers struggle through the bush tucker challenges.
Which is perhaps why the nation kept on voting for Helen Flanagan to take the challenges and up until recently Helen had been voted in for four and failed all of them! But a turn around was in-store for the latest episode when she achieved the maximum possible stars in a challenge that saw her sticking her head into boxes full of lizards, scorpions, cockroaches, millipedes and a range of other critters.
“I can’t believe I got twelve!” she gabbled. “Oh my God, this is ridiculous. I’m just so happy. Honestly I’ve never been so happy. I’m just really really thrilled I was able to get that. It’s so stupid. Honestly I can’t tell you how scared I was and just feel really proud of myself and I felt really proud and happy. My campmates will be so happy and I can’t wait to go back.”
Her campmates were just as confounded by her success as during the trial they showed a lack of optimism in guessing how many stars she would return with.
“None” guessed a cynical Eric.
“Three?” said the ever-optimistic Ashley.
“Who knows. We’ve been here before haven’t we?” Charlie barbed.
But she returned victorious and many now are questioning wether she has been playing more of a game than people have given her credit for! Rumours abound that her show of nervousness and mini-breakdowns where intended to win sympathy with the public and when she discovered that this wasn’t working changed her tactics.
