Tom McEvoy - Poker Legend

LA Las Vegas resident, McEvoy was actually born in Grand Rapids, Michigan. A mere baby when he started playing poker, McEvoy has been developing the game since he was five years old, often finding himself in trouble for playing it in grade school! Though he has been playing for most of his natural life, McEvoy didn’t pursue it professionally until 1979 when he was quit his job as an accountant.

Another history maker amongst our Poker Legends, McEvoy is the only player to ever win a WSOP main event from a seat win. It was 1983 and he had won a $10,000 seat from entering a satellite tournament and this propelled him into the WSOP and earned him his first of four championship bracelets.

His poker skills and strategy have seen him get to 18 finals tables and finish in over 27 money-finish places netting him over $2 million in tournament winnings and playing against every WSOP main event winner in the history of the event.

McEvoy is now part of the exclusive Team Pokerstars, which also consists of; Chris Moneymaker, Wil Wheaton, Greg Raymer, Isabelle Mercier and Evelyn Ng. He's also gone on to become an accomplished poker writer and player. He has numerous poker titles to his name, both in the game and on the shelf. He has authored or co-authored twelve books on poker strategy and has won many a tournament. He is a columnist for Card Player Magazine and is also currently working on ideas for televised poker shows.
