American Football is coming back to the UK intent on making a concerted effort to capture the imagination of the UK public. This is great news for the fans it gathered when last shown on telly, they felt short-changed when with little explanation it disappeared from our screens.

It’s a while now since Channel 4 first brought American Football to our screens and it quickly gained a lot of fans, then in a move that could not be explained to the armchair fans, they started moving it around the schedules and eventually off our screens.

Jo Montana is a name that fans from that era will well remember, the ex-San Francisco 49‘ers Quarterback was in London recently ahead of his former team’s game against Jacksonville which was held at Wembley Stadium on Sunday 27th October. Jo, as many of his fans will remember, was a really cool player who won four Super Bowls and claimed the most valuable player award in three of them.

Jo was excited about the fact that the NFL is going to increase the number of games played in London from two to three, there is also the possibility of a franchise opening up in London due to the huge support the game is receiving.

Just in case you’re wondering about the line up for the games, which are scheduled to be played in 2014, its Jacksonville v Dallas Cowboys, (can’t wait for that one, sad to say it was the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders that got me into the game.) Atlanta Falcons v Detroit Lions and finally Oakland Raiders v Miami Dolphins.

The good news for NFL Fans is you don’t have to wait for next year to get your American Football fix, these seasons games are currently being shown on UK TV, Channel 4 are televising all the games and Paddy Power are offering some great betting opportunities.

You can bet on total match points, 1st half Winner, Winning Margin, 1st team touch down scorer, player A total passing yards, rushing yards or receiving yards, to name just a few of the 100+ bets you can have on NFL games. Don’t forget you can also have a flutter on who will make it to the Super Bowl and who will win the AFC or NFC Championships, current odds are: Denver Broncos are at 3/1 while the Buffalo Bills are quoted at 500/1 to win the Superbowl.
