BTTS Bet Guide
Both Teams to Score – What is this Bet?
Placing a football bet can be very easy. Placing a winning bet can be a bit trickier! Big clubs can have a bad game and teams at the lower end of the league can put in good performances. Even Cup ties that seem like a certainty – never are.
We are always looking for the best angle to give you the best chance of winning. There are many markets in Sports Betting and we have covered a number of options in our guides and tips section. To keep things simple, placing a BTTS bet gets you straight into the action with a very easy choice.
So what exactly is a BTTS bet? Well, it is exactly what it says it is – a bet on Both Teams To Score during a football game. So if both teams score 1-1 or more at full time then you have placed a winning bet. With the standard BTTS bet you are not worried about who wins as this has no effect on your bet.
If you want to add some extra interest in the game, you can choose a BTTS and Win Bet. This can give a big payout from a small wager. So if your favourite team is playing and you are certain that they will win and the other team are very likely to score, then this could be the bet for you.
Creating A BTTS Bet
Do some research as this will give you the best chance of selecting the right teams. In March 2017 one lucky punter put £15 on a 991/1 long-shot – and he won. It was a 12-fold BTTS accumulator with Ladbrokes that featured three games from the Football League and nine from the National League. All 12 games resulted in both teams scoring and the £15 bet turned into winnings of £14,867.
Very few people know enough about the National League to successfully predict so many outcomes. That is why research is absolutely key.
It’s easy to look at high scoring teams. But if they are also keeping a high rate of clean sheets they won’t be very good for the BTTS bet. So check out the stats available here for all the teams.
Take a look at the chart below for the Premier League Teams with the highest rates of BTTS results in the 2018/19 season.
From the image, you can see that Arsenal tops the list on 68% of games where both teams scored. That is a blended average of Home and Away results. Broken down, Arsenal actually concedes more goals when playing away. So their BTTS rate at home is 58%. But away, that rocketed to 79% of games in the 2018/19 season.
And even though Manchester City are Champions once again, their away record is better than their home record for BTTS. 52.6% of their home games ended with both teams scoring, however, this number reduced to only 36.8% when they played away. They kept 12 clean sheets away from home in the season.

There have been some incredibly high scoring games in football. And even though some teams manage to get 7, 8 or even 10 goals past the opposition, they only have to concede one goal for your BTTS bet. Check out the 5-3 goal game between Crystal Palace and Bournemouth on the last day of the 2018/19 Premier League.
So there you have it. Our guide to successfully placing a BTTS bet. Remember to do your research by checking the stats for teams before you wager. Some leagues and teams have a much higher rate of positive results so while the odds may not be as high, they are more likely to be successful.
Stay clear of teams that are very good at keeping clean sheets. If they don’t concede, you can’t win your bet.
