The Euromillions jackpot of £152m or €175m has been won in Ireland!
The location of the winner has yet to be confirmed but news reports suggest that the winner of the ticket has now been in touch with the National Lottery. It is the biggest ever lottery jackpot to be claimed by someone from Ireland. The biggest previous winner was Dolores McNamara from Limerick. Back in 2005 she won €115m.
This is the 14th time a euromillions winner has come from Ireland. The CEO of the National Lottery has some advice for the winner. They’ve said they should sign the back of the ticket, keep it safe and then contact National Lottery HQ who will give them further instructions.
The total winnings came to €175,475,380 which will mean a huge cheque will be needed unlike the $1 winner from Iowa had….
What to do if you’ve won the lottery
Firstly you should keep quiet to start off with! Who knows what people will do if they found out you now have a £152m fortune to your name. It could also lead to people who weren’t really your friends now trying to be your best friends. You and your winnings don’t need them!
You should definitely treat yourselves and your loved ones. With this amount of money you could pretty much have/do anything you’ve ever wanted to. However, you should also make a list of expenses that need covering first. Once you’ve paid off the mortgages, loans etc then you have nothing to worry about.
Investing your winnings wisely should be something else you plan on doing. That way you won’t have to worry as much about running out of money as you have it invested in other ventures. Unlike Michael Carrol from England who wasted all his lotto winnings and is now back at work!
And if you’re not the lucky winner, you could try a few spins of the slots online. Betfred had a £4.2m winner last week. Sean Doyle from Newcastle, Co Down placed a £10 stake on an online slot game called Mars Attacks, and struck it rich when he won the Jackpot King Deluxe!
