The 2014/15 Premier League season is well under way and betting is intensifying on who will be the top goal scorer in the Premier League.
Before the season started, you would have bet money on one of the many strikers that Manchester United have on their books to be occupying the top scorer slot but in line with the crazy season that we have had, United’s forward line is struggling to find the net.
This translates to Robin Van Persie and Wayne Rooney being offered at odds of 40/1 to be the top scorer, while injury prone Falcao is only 50/1.
Paddy Power Bookmakers have Manchester City’s, Sergio Aquero, as their clear favourite at 10/11 ON, whilst Chelsea’s summer signing, Diego Costa is 7/4.
There have been some surprise scorers so far this season and you can bet that as the season progresses we may still be surprised. Southampton’s Pelle, is at present being offered at 33/1, not bad odds for a player who seems to score for fun and looks like he’s enjoying it.
West Brom’s, Berahino, is another player who looks a good outside bet at 66/1. The beauty of having a few quid on an outsider bagging the Top Goal Scorer award is that your outside bet can soon start to look very good when some of the favourites go out for a few weeks with injuries and your guy starts bagging a few hat tricks!
I for one would have a sneaky pound or two on Wayne Rooney, he may have had a slow start but you can be sure he will start hitting the back of the net very soon.
