Royal Baby Name Betting Odds

UPDATE: The Royal baby boy has now been named as Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. The odds market has now closed.

Prince Harry revealed on Monday that his wife, The Duchess of Sussex, had given birth to a baby boy in the early hours of the morning!

The baby was born on 6th May at 05:26 BST. The royal baby is the Queen’s eight great-grandchild and is seventh in line to the throne. He is yet to be given a name but Betfair is already taking odds on what he will be called.

This is their first child together and the name of the royal baby is expected to be announced soon. The royal baby won’t be born a prince but will be ‘Of Sussex” following that of his parents.

Alexander – 7/2: Alexander is the favourite on Betfair. There aren’t any other Royal Family members with the name Alexander however, Prince George does have Alexander as a middle name.

James – 4/1: Prince Harry has a cousin with the name James. James, Viscount Severn is the child of Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex and Sophie, Countess of Wessex.

Arthur – 5/1: Arthur is a popular suggestion amongst many people and was the favourite for a while. The Prince of Wales and The Duke of Cambridge, both have the middle name Arthur.

Phillip – 9/1: A name popular amongst The Royal Family. The Royal baby’s great grandfather is Prince Phillip, The Duke of Edinburgh. Also, his grandfather The Prince of Wales and uncle the Duke of Cambridge also have Phillip as their middle names.

All these names are sensible suggestions and have a royal relation to them in some way. However, Betfair is also offering odds on slightly more extravagant names, to say the least…

Kanye – 100/1: The same name as the American rapper and self-proclaimed god Kanye West. This would take the whole world by surprise but probably not Kanye West, he’s probably waiting for a Royal baby to be named after him.

50cent – 250/1: At over double the odds is another American rapper, 50cent. We highly doubt the Duke and Duchess of Sussex listen to him much nor could they name a song of his. However, 50cent of Sussex does have a good ring to it…

Thanos – 500/1: Who knows, maybe the Royal Family are huge fans of Marvel and the Avengers. But seen as though Thanos is a villain, we doubt they would want to name the Royal baby after him. Maybe something more like Thor, which is also 500/1!

Aegon – 500/1: It appears that Aegon Targaryen (Jon Snow) has more chance of sitting on the throne than the seventh in line! Game of Thrones is what everyone is talking about at the minute, and maybe the Royal family are too. Let’s just hope unlike Aegon, he won’t have to lead us into battles using dragons anytime soon!
